The History of Enagic and Kangen Water

Both alkaline and acidic water have been recognized as a true source for medical treatment in Japan since the
1960's. Many of Japan's most respected hospitals have machines installed that produce these types of waters.
Due to the dramatic results achieved from drinking Kangen water and using strong acidic water externally, many
patients wanted to continue their treatments at home but were told they could not due to the technology only being developed for
commercial use at that time.
Enagic recognized this potentially large market of consumers and began to research the possibility to use
this technology to make a unit specifically designed for in-home use.
Enagic's research proved to be a success and over the years they developed the LEVELUK series for in-home use as
well as the LEVELUK Super 501 for restaurants and small-scale food industries.
The term, "Kangen Water" by which this wonderful water is associated with, means "return to it's origin" in Japanese.
The Trade Mark of "Kangen Water" was established
August 30, 2005 registration No.2990706. When people talk about Kangen water, they are most often referring to the water that is produced
through Enagic's water ionizer machines.
There is some confusion as to when Enagic Co., LTD was established. The company itself began under Sony's specialty trading
operation June 21, 1974 and became known as Enagic Co., Ltd,. You can visit Enagic's site to see their overall history here.
As a company and specialty service division of Sony, they began their development, production and sales of
electrolysis water generation devices, and life science water apparatus in 1974. By 1988 the company became Kangen water
specialists.
At first it was thought to be impossible to develop a water ionizer machine small enough for in-home use. However, Enagic was
determined to accomplish what they set out to do and in January 2000, they obtained success and developed the first of their LEVELUK
machines, the LEVELUK DX.
In 2001 Enagic merged with Toyo Aitex and in August of 2002 Enagic developed the Service and Maintenance Devision.
In January of 2003, the International operations were initiated and Enagic USA, Inc. was born.
April 2003, they established their Cartridge and promotional goods supply center.
In June of 2003 Enagic expanded their product line to include the LEVELUK Super 501 and the
Anespa bathwater system.
Enagic celebrated its 30th year in June 2004 as a specialized manufacturer of high quality water generating
systems and in September 2004, they began sales of the LEVELUK SD501.
Enagic has distribution centers located in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Honolulu and Canada. The factory where they
manufacter all of their Kangen water machines is currently in Osaka, Japan, with plans of moving to the US.
